Introduction
This is an instruction manual for how to construct a basic wall frame. Timber is the most commonly used material for building Australian house frames. Timber framed houses are usually built using Radiata Pine. The reason for building a wall frame is that the material is cheap, light and strong, requiring minimal labour to install relatively quickly. The task is most commonly performed on a worksite. Frames can be built off and on site. If off site they are built in a warehouse and delivered on site by a truck. Before commencing to build a wall frame the apprentice will need to gather all tools and equipment for the job. Constructing a basic frame wall is easy with how much supervision and learning. If you’re a first year you need supervision in case something goes wrong with either safety or constructing the wall. OHS qualifications are needed and also handling tools qualification. When finished the client will expect a straight wall which is plumb and straightened.
